He made it crystal clear he wasn't calling for violence, insisting the bit was just a "pretend roast" ... clearly a dig at the couple's age gap, not anything darker. Kimmel doubled down that it was a "very light roast joke" about Trump nearing 80 and Melania being significantly younger.
While acknowledging Melania had a "stressful experience over the weekend" following the shooting, Kimmel still turned the tables saying he agrees violent rhetoric should be toned down but suggested she might want to "have a conversation" with her husband about it first.
As you know ... on Monday Donald and Melania joined Karoline Leavitt in piling on the late night host ... demanding Kimmel be fired after his controversial "expectant widow" joke about FLOTUS.
POTUS slammed Kimmel for being "in no way funny" and took a jab at his "terrible Television Ratings" before blasting the comic for airing what he described as a "fake video" of Melania and Barron during his monologue.

According to court docs obtained by TMZ, lawyers for Nicole Olivera -- who has a child with Huda's boyfriend Louis Russell -- says they're having trouble getting the legal docs effectively served on Huda.
According to the filing, Nicole hired a process server to try to serve Huda at her luxury condo in North Carolina. The lawyer says the process server was told by security to leave and not come back, and he says the guard threatened to call the police if the man didn't leave.
Nicole said she believes Huda is "actively evading service" to avoid the court battle. Huda's rep tells TMZ, “Huda is not evading service, and any suggestion otherwise is inaccurate. No attempt has been made to serve her while she has been present at her residence, with attempts instead occurring while she has been away working on music for her upcoming rollout."
The rep added, "She will address any legal matters through the proper and the mature way — via her legal team.”

Law enforcement told TMZ ... a 2026 Tesla sedan was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 21 in South Carolina just after 11 PM when it veered off the road, striking a pole and a fence, before rolling. The driver was the only person in the car ... they succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The coroner confirmed Dylan was the driver.
